AVmeeting.net: Audio/Video Meeting Over the Web

Very cool! One of my old roommates, originally from Shanghai, just sent me this message. His name is Zilun Gong. He says he moved back to Toronto, Canada in Oct. 2001. He set up his own company in May 2002, called Eable.Biz Tech Corp. It created AVmeeting.net, an audio/video email and meeting service he developed!

He is a very experienced software developer, and we got along VERY well. He was always cheerful and jolly, like a laughing Buddha. Nice family too. I haven't talked to him for a long time, so I am delighted to get this message.

AVmeeting.net is a website to provide interactive Audio/Video/Image/Text delivery services over the Internet by web browsers. There are 7 services currently,

AVLobby - free public audio/video meeting(0¢US/min)
AVRoom - private audio/video meeting(19¢US/min)
AVOffice - high bandwidth private business audio/video meeting(49¢US/min)
PhoneLobby - public audio/text talking(3¢US/min)
PhoneRoom - private audio/text talking(5¢US/min)
TextDesk - private text chat/delivery(1¢US/min)
InfoDesk - free public text chat for all visitors(0¢US/min)

System requirements:

A web browser with Flash 6.0 plug-in, JavaScript and cookie enabled
Under Microsoft Windows or Macintosh Operation System(Unix/Linux not tested at present)
With sound card and speakers installed
A 16-bit color monitor capable of 800 x 600 resolution
A microphone plugged and working(optional if you just use text mode)
A webcam plugged and working(optional if you just use audio/text mode)
Internet connection(56kbps and up for Services above except Service 3, 80kbps+ for Service 3)

Payments/Deposits:

PayPal is the authorized payment processor for AVmeeting.net(a website of Eable.Biz Tech Corp.)
Deposit some amount(at lease US$2.00) before using the services except Service 1 and 7
Deduct the right cents from the deposit based on the minutes used for the services
If you have an account with PayPal, you may deposit in a minute
If you have never paid through PayPal, you may register an account in a few minutes
We refund your balance at your request immediately by PayPal if the balance is equal or greater than US$1.00
