Watch PBS: Avoiding Armageddon

Coming soon: watch the four-part series called Avoiding Armageddon, broadcast from April 14-17 at 9 pm EST on PBS!

This eight-hour documentary took two years to produce. "This timely series from Ted Turner Documentaries explores the explosive intersection between terrorism and weapons of mass destruction. Viewers are taken to some of the most dangerous places in the world to see dramatic human stories that convey the threats from nuclear, biological and chemical weapons, as well as the hope that the world can still choose to avoid Armageddon." Producers travelled to places such as Iraq, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Kashmir and throughout the Middle East to gather material for the film. The series is hosted by journalist Walter Cronkite, and each episode concludes with a discussion on the provocative issues raised, moderated by veteran journalist Frank Sesno.

If you missed the Frontline program on Kim Jong-il last night, as I said here, oh my God is it scary. Not only Kim, but Bush and his cowboy diplomacy are scary. It's helping to push the U.S. and N. Korea to the brink of military confrontation. Frontline will post the entire program in streaming video by April 14, so you may watch it fully on the Internet.

Everyone, please watch and read Kim's Nuclear Gamble and Avoiding Armageddon! Also, watch In Search of al-Qaeda.

Terrorism and Weapons of Mass Destruction are some of the biggest threats to our security in this century. We can't afford to be ignorant. I know all this news talk bores some of you, and maybe you'd rather talk American Idol, but the more I learn about these problems, the more I get seriously concerned. Please do all you can to stay connected to the world and stay informed! Our future depends on it.
