You all MUST check out this young writer/director,
Eric Kripke. I was blown away by a couple of his short films on IFILM. They are some of the
best short films I've ever seen! I mean it. They are meticulously planned and choreographed, professionally shot and written without wasting any time or words. They are funny as hell and stand out as the cream of the crop. This guy is gonna be famous in the future! From IFILM:
"Eric Kripke is a young writer/director with an edgy, distinctive taste for comedy. He's currently directing his debut feature film,
Munchies, for MGM, produced by John Davis, Michael Hackett and David Solomon. The jet-black comedy tells the twisted tale of four anorexic high school girls who, after taking an experimental diet pill, are turned into flesh-eating zombies. Kripke has a two picture deal with DreamWorks SKG. He recently completed his first screenplay for the studio, Little Green Men. Kripke also has a deal with Warner Bros. to write and develop television pilots. In addition, Kripke is a partner in
Quality Filmed Entertainment, along with filmmakers Steven Hein, Gary Bryman, Trevor Sands and Charlie Call. Quality produced both of Eric's films, as well as such award winning shorts as
Peep Show and
George Lucas in Love. In January 1998, Kripke's short film
Battle of the Sexes premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. At the same time, his other short film,
Truly Committed, won the Audience Award for Best Short at the Slamdance Film Festival.
Truly Committed has also taken best short honors at the Ft. Lauderdale, Austin and Houston Film Festivals, as well as different awards from various festivals around the world. Kripke is a graduate of the USC School of Cinema-Television. He originally is from Toledo, Ohio. He is represented by the Endeavor Talent Agency. Eric Kripke is a millionaire playboy director who solves baffling crimes in his spare time."
His two films on IFILM:
- Battle of the Sexes. "What women really do in the ladies restroom."
- Truly Committed. "When a sickeningly sweet couple are cruelly separated by fate, they go to extreme and occassionally murderous ends to get back together. Based on a short story by Richard Matheson." This film is sheer joy. Extremely well organized, it flows like champagne and made me laugh like a maniac.
