IBM began a huge round of layoffs last week nationwide, in various divisions. IBM has said it will lay off up to 9,500 people, but who knows when this slide will end?

Later on this year, since IBM is selling off its poorly performing Storage (hard drive) division, the rumors are 15,000 people from Storage and related technologies will be forced to leave the company. They will have the option of joining a new joint venture, based here in San Jose, controlled by Hitachi. That's a total of up to 24,500 people leaving IBM.

Here's the talk on FuckedCompany about our layoffs. One of our main competitors in IT services, EDS, is cutting now too.

Latest internal job cut news from Alliance@IBM, the IBM Employees' Union. It's really bad. Read these personal layoff stories.
