Graduation!

Please join me in wishing many many CONGRATULATIONS to Esther on graduating from UC Berkeley in political science!!! All of you who are graduating deserve a big hug and a homemade dinner with roast duck and avocado milkshakes.

Warm wishes to you, girl, and tell us all about your adventures in Seoul. With your sense of humor, who knows what could happen.

I just attended my dear friend Magdalene's graduation this morning, with her MS in software engineering. Met her parents for the first time, who flew in from Johor Bahru, Malaysia, as well as her husband Meng Yee and friend Sly, her "official photographer." I was asking her mom about all the stories Mag has told me about how much of a practical joker and tease she can be. Her mom not only started telling me more stories of Mag's past life, she sounds like Mag too when she is about to laugh!

Guess who the commencement speaker was this morning? Amy Tan, author of The Joy Luck Club! She made a "public confession" about how, when she was taking seven classes a semester to save money (what a Chinese thing), she "cheated" by using Cliff's Notes to help write her essays about writers like James Joyce.

I got a photo of Amy Tan's back! Awwwwright! See you all next week.
